Daily e-mail Inflow Analysis

I may have gone a bit overboard with this one, but my curiosity got the better of me. I was wondering what my email processing looks like, so I decided to record some simple stats during a common workday.

Here's what I found:

Time shows the time of day I checked my inbox, volume represents the percentage of emails processed at that time of the overal day's volume. Deleted shows the percentage of overall volume that was deleted. Read shows the percentage of overall volume that was read (and in some cases, deleted, filed, or responded). Responded simply indicates the number that were replied to and then either deleted or filed. Filed simply means the email was filed for future reference, no other actions were taken.

The numbers are interesting and definately show a lot of deleted email. I captured the numbers once again on a different day and they seemed to be close to these. Much of the deleted email isn't relevant to me, doesn't have any actions for me, and doesn't need to be kept for reference. However, it's what I spend most of my email processing time dealing with.
